Peter Pan - Special Edition product reviews

Based on Sir James M. Barrie's 1904 play about the boy who refuses to grow up, this film begins in the London nursery of Wendy, John and Michael Darling. The three children are visited by Peter Pan, the boy who refuses to grow up. With the help of his tiny friend, the fairy Tinkerbell, Peter takes the three children on a magical flight to Never Never Land.

This enchanted island is home to Peter, Tink, the Lost Boys, Tiger Lily and her Indian tribe, and the scheming Captain Hook who is as intent on defeating Peter Pan as he is from escaping the tick-tocking crocodile that once ate the hand that Peter Pan cut off.

I love the classic story if Peter Pan and the lost boys, and grew up with Peter Pan stories as a child. When I had children of my own I often found myself reading to them some form of version of the old Peter Pan story, and loved that each and every one of my children were as captivated and enthralled by the stories, just like I was.

When this movie was released we hired it out for one of our family movie nights. And in true magical style we were captivated from start to finish. Everyone is there; Peter Pan and the lost boys, magical Tinker Bell, Hook and his pirates, and of course the Darling family and their dog (nanny). And let's not forget the magical Never Never Land.

This movies supplies laughter, wonderment, joy, delight, and a few wee tear jerker moments. It is fantastically made with excellent animations. We enjoyed every moment of this fantastic movie, and my children in delighted in pretending to be Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the lost boys for hours after it was finished. And while they did this I watched disc 2.

I love the special features, as I love to learn how movies are made, and I really needed to see how Peter Pan could fly so effortlessly lol a very enjoyable movie that we have since purchased as part of our collection.

As a child I was enthralled by the tale of Peter Pan, and the moral tale not-so-hidden within it... and when Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman got roped into doing 'Hook' together, the magic was rekindled again... so it was with great pleasure, and some hesitant curiosity, that I plonked this in front of my son when he asked if he could watch a DVD last weekend.

My joy was abundant when I saw the rapt look on his face, the grins breaking out, and the laughter that ensued as he got right into this classic rendition of the tale. Artfully drawn in typical Disney style, there was singing and rhyming, laughter and tears, joys and fears... all wrapped up around a wonderful heart-warming tale of the boy who wouldn't grow up.

It was great to see the lost boys again, and ol' Captain Hook at his finest, glittering Tinkerbell, and the Indian tribe, the traitorous mermaids, and of course Wendy and the boys, as well as the animal cast, good old Nanna the dog, still trying to fly with flapping ears and a levitating butt-ful of fairydust and the crocodile, still ticking away there... they all bring back such wonderful childhood memories for us adults, and create new wonder and delight in our kids.

Overall, if you still don't think that 74 minutes of classic magic is worth it, take into account the 3+ hours of bonus features on Disc 2. With games and new stories, as well as interviews with Walt Disney himself, as well as some history on Peter Pan himself and how he came to be, and almost came to be too! A great addition to the kids library.

Product reviews for listing 5104: Daddy Day Care
Director: Steve Carr

Product image for Daddy Day CareIn the comedy Daddy Day Care, two fathers lose their jobs in product development at a large food company and are forced to take their sons out of the exclusive Chapman Academy and become stay-at-home fathers. With no job possibilities on the horizon, the two dads open their own day care facility, "Daddy Day Care", and employ some fairly unconventional and side splitting methods of caring for children. As "Daddy Day Care" starts to catch on, it launches them into a highly comedic rivalry with Chapman Academy's tough-as-nails director... who has driven all previous competitors out of business.
