Baboon product reviews

He survived a plane crash. Then things got really wild.

Disaster strikes when the plane carrying Gerry Copeland and his biologist parents flies into a lightning storm. They go down hard, somewhere in the African savannah.

Gerry wakes up surrounded by baboons - and unable to move. He can't believe his eyes - something extraordinary has happened. Something that will change him forever.

For a surviver, the aftermath of a plane crash is usually something like you'd see on "E.R." or "House M.D"... but for young Gerry, it's more like something you'd see on "Outer Limits" or "The X Files".

With the way we are treating our planet and our fellow inhabitants, a change in perspective such as Gerry experienced would be something we could all benefit from. We watch TV and see a bunch of people having to do tricks and stunts like rats in a lab maze and call that "Surviving" - but this is a step so far beyond it would be a shock so profound I doubt we could adjust and cope as well as young Gerry did.

Even though this book is aimed at a much younger readership, I found it a fun read. Light enough to be able to flip through it fairly quickly, yet still showing an amazing insight into the way baboons live... though some of the conclusions arrived at by Gerry throughout the story are somewhat dubious, yet ultimately to remain a mystery.

Overall... a great read for kids of any age. Most suitable for the 8-14 year old range I would say, but in the end even I found it worth devoting a few hours to chewing through it.

Product reviews for listing 772: Mr Bluenose
Written by Jack Lasenby

Product image for Mr BluenoseDad has to go to work, so you go down to see Mr Bluenose, there's always something to do there. He tells you stories while you give him a hand to sort apples, feed the pigs, teach Horse how to push the wheelbarrow, and terrify boys who plan to raid the apple trees.

On the way home, you look for empty bottles and sell them for boiled lollies to Mr Bryce at the store. He pays you more boiled lollies for telling him stories about how ... more...
