The hardest bit about this is using it for the first time and sadly, i went crying to my partner cos i couldn't make it work >_<

Althought the instructions said not to do things like cheese, ham and tomatoes, we drove the poor machine to the testing points. Things like cheese made the machine even harder to clean but it does an ok job of slicing it. Ham again went through it but i wouldn't recommend it. Tomatoes, even firm should not go anywhere near it unless you want to make puree.

With the carrots (other than staining it and mushing the last bit everytime it moved), potatoe, onion and capsiucm, we had great success and the only thing we really didn't like was the fact it ran on batterys. If it had a power (wall connection) option, it would make the perfect slicer. What more can you say.

This was surprisingly easy to assemble and use, despite how complex it appears at first. The hardest bit, for me, was actually using it the first time.

I wanted to slice up some carrots to cook in garlic butter, and I have found a long diagonal slice to give great results... but of course, this is not suited for that purpose and the Super Slicer was in the sink for a cleaning... so I had to settle for a straight cross-cut. So after quickly putting the batteries in and assembling this unit, it was time to give it a go. The priciple is simple, a rotating motor with a drive pin locks into a slot on the sliding blade-holder... this converts a rotating motion into a straight line, much the same way the old steam engines took a back-and-forth piston action and turned it into a round-and-round motion of the drive wheels, just in reverse. The blade clips into the slider, and bingo... motor turns, blade slides, food gets sliced!

What I failed to take into account was how strong a cut this thing made, sacrificing speed to gain sheer brute force. The poor carrot was slammed from side to side of the feeding tube every time the blade grabbed it... it soon became obvious that you need to pack the feeder tube pretty solidly if you want a good cut, as the slamming abuse caused the cuts to be uneven and of irregular thickness. Well, it's a learning curve, this business. Wink Icon

After a few attempts to get it working right, I found the method behind the madness, and was happily slicing carrots for ages... of course, that meant there were an awful lot of carrots... which changed dinner plans slightly... and gave us plentry of leftovers the next day. Thank heaven for pet cats, rats and kids!

Overall, though I wouldn't claim this is any faster, smoother... or quieter by any means... it certainly would be a *lot* easier for those with shoulder, arm, wrist or hand troubles, such as arthritis, RSI, or tendon injuries. I know that it did make things a lot easier for me when it came to slicing, and that's a big enough bonus for me. However, despite it's obvious usefulness, it wasn't quite my thing. I'll save it for when the kids are a little older and want to help Dad in the kitchen... this is utterly safe for them to use (with minimal but still present supervision), and I think that's possibly going to be it's biggest drawcard in my book.

Unless you are Gordon Ramsey, slicing veggies is a job fraught with danger - blood and finger-tips can be lost. Prevent the involuntary blood-letting with a one touch vegetable slicer.

Make no mistake, these blades are razor sharp and make very short work of slicing your veggies and preserve yoru digits at the same time.

Very simple to work and just as simple to clean. How much can you say about slicing vegetables? Probably not a huge amount - but with this, you can make a tedious job simpler and much safer.
