Night's Dawn : 2 : The Neutronium Alchemist product reviews

The ancient menace has finally escaped from Lalonde, shattering the Confederation's peaceful existence. Those who succumbed to it have acquired godlike powers, but for now follow a far from divine gospel as they advance inexorably from world to world.

Governments teeter on the brink of anarchy, the Confederation Navy is dangerously over-stretched, and a dark messiah prepares to involve his own version of the final Night.

In such desperate times the last thing the galaxy needs is a new and terrifyingly powerful weapon. Yet Dr Alkad Mzu is determined to retrieve the Alchemist - so she can complete her thirty-year-old vendetta to slay a star. Which means Joshua Calvert has to find Dr Mzu and bring her back before the Alchemist can be reactivated.

But he's not alone in the chase, and there are people on both sides who have their own ideas about how to use the ultimate doomsday advice.

Once again, I found myself enthralled by the world of the Night's Dawn. As I read, I could see a strange and wonderful future unfold behind my eyes... and it both thrilled and terrified me.

This book appealed to some deeper parts of my mind, parts that crave artificial expansion of the the mental shell, a way to reach out and touch the datasphere... and in this world, created from the multitude of possible futures, I found not one, but two ways that draw to me... if they develope that kind of technology, or get even close, in my lifetime... sign me up!

Overall, wow... another stunner, residing with it's kin, in the place of honour in my Libri Pluris.

Product reviews for listing 3738: The People's Queen -  Written by: Vanora Bennett

Product image for The People's QueenSet in late fourteenth century England, Vanora Bennett's rich, dramatic new novel presents an England uncannily like our own. The country is in turmoil, The King is in debt to the City, and the old order had broken down - a time of opportunity indeed, for those who can seize the moment.

The king's mistress, Alice Perrers, becomes the virtual ruler of the country from his sickbed. Disliked and despised by the Black Prince and ... more...
