Medical Kit product reviews

Just what the doctor ordered: lots of accessories for great role-play fun! The Fisher-Price Medical Kit includes a stethoscope that really works! Plus a blood pressure cuff with a spinning gauge (big enough to fit grown-up patients!), a "sick-to-well" thermometer, pretend otoscope, spring-loaded syringe, and a bracelet style bandage that all fits into a soft "doctor" bag for storage.

My daughter has spent a lot of time in and out of hospital and at the doctors since she was born, and over the past few months at her daycare they have had a doctors kit out like this one, everyday I pick her up all she can talk about is how she played doctors with her friends. Several weeks ago she started a star chart at home and when she reached 100 stars she got to go to the shops and pick a toy. We went to kmart where immediately she found the fisher price Medical Kit, my first thought was maybe it's a bit expensive as I had seen them retailing around $40 in the past. However to my surprise it was only $19, which I felt a bargain for such a quality toy.

As soon as we got home she was off setting up her "doctor house" bringing out her blankets and pillow for her sick babies and tots. It was amazing to see just now much learning this toy provided her with and also the language that is encouraged I was amazed by her ability to name so many different body parts. She quickly learnt the names of all the equipment it came with and knew what each of the tools were used for, the toy stethoscope is awesome as it actually works just like a real one which is pretty cool. Not only have the toys been treated with the medical equipment but so have Mummy and Daddy on a number of occasions, as well as any visitors to the home who get plasters applied, medicine given and their hearts checked. With my daughter never really been much of a toy fan since birth I am happy to say that this medical kit has been a real hit, with my daughter loving it to role play, often as a princess doctor.

It comes with a neat fabric bag to keep all of the medical kit in so that it doesn't get lost, broken or scattered around the floor. Being made of strong durable plastic means it also doesn't break within a second of playing with it like some cheap imitations I have seen in the past. Working at a daycare with 50 kids I can vouch for it as I have been at the daycare for 2 years and our fisher price Medical Kit is still going strong.

Definetely a well used toy which provides so many hours of fun.

We purchased this for our daughter as a treat after a hospital stay (she was just over 4 at the time) as I figured it might be a bit of an interest of hers for a while. Over a year and a half later she still enjoys this kit and it comes out every now and then to play doctor to her dolls (or I might be asked to be the patient).

There are cheap and crappy doctors kits around but this one is fantastic and worth the price tag (which in my opinion isn't too expensive anyway). The stethoscope actually works in that you can tap on the end and hear the noise come through the earpiece so it feel really real for the child.

There is a bag to hold it all in, but the velcro tag isn't that secure so we don't jumble this up in the toy box with the other toys as I think things would fall out and get lost. My daughter adds things to the kit too ... it seems an old bandage has made it's way in there, as has an old medicine syringe. She was also lucky enough to be offered a gas mask to bring home from the hospital and this even fits with it's long plastic piping!

the blood pressure gauge fits me well, but it actually way to big for a child's or doll's arm however it's easy to make do. My daughter loves the thermometer as she can turn the dial to a sad or a happy face - very visual for children. The pretend plaster is a slip-on plastic bracelet which is a bit small for me as an adult but tends to fall off my daughters skinny arm but she still enjoys it. The spring loaded plastic syringe is very well designed and seems to last and last and last.

In fact we also have this same doctors set at the preschool where I work and it's lasting well there too, so I highly recommend paying the extra to get this good quality kit as although it's aimed at preschoolers, I can see it getting a lot of use over many years well beyond preschool age in this house.

My daughters love dressing up and role playing. I would often drop them off at their home-based educarers' home and they would go straight for the doctors kit. It had real appeal to them. They would have their playmates or teddies as patients and they would be a nurse, doctor, vet or ambulance officer.

I knew I had to get one for our place that both the girls and my home-based carekids could use. I looked at several different brands but ended up with the Fisher-Price medical kit because it I had seen how durable it was at their educarers'. It was also much more affordable than many of the other kits I found.

It is very handy that it has a doctor's bag to store everything in. The only problem is that it only has a couple of velcro strips to secure the contents. We have misplaced several items from our kit but they are probably at the bottom of the toy box.

The stethoscope really works and is the favourite of all the pieces wit the kids both listening to their own and their friends' heartbeat. I also like the bandage which is like a bracelet, it also fits around a kid's ankle or on a teddy. There are no more sticky plasters wasted on injured toys.

This kit is worth every cent it. Hardly a day goes by without it being played with. Combined this an old lab coat from the dress up box my young doctors are ready for any medical situation.

My daughter loves to role-play so I purchased her this doctor's kit for one of her birthdays. She is nearly six now and she still regularly uses all or some of the kit. I love that it has the soft doctor's bag. This makes for a handy storage for the bits and pieces. I hang it on a coathanger in her wardrobe and its up out of the way. Most of the pieces move or "work" in some way.

When she is playing doctor or vet, this kit is easy for her to use. It isn't painful being strapped into any of the cuffs. The bandage is a bit of a squeeze, but it fits onto our wrists. Now she has a baby sister, she will also play at being a doctor to her. I can be sure that everything is pretty safe for baby too which is important since so many of my eldest's other toys are too tiny to be left with baby.

The toys are versatile. My daughter has used the blood pressure cuff to "put air into tires", or the "ear checker" as a hammer. Its important to me that toys be tools that don't limit imagination and I find this medical kit suits our needs. Its not the cheapest on the market by any means, but it's also not the dearest one available. We do have another kit that is a cheapie, and I have found that the pieces have not been as durable.
