I don't like plain tuna by itself and this didn't have me grabbing for a wipe in a positive way either. The advantage to this is that you don't wind up with oily horrible fingers and it is a healthier option. We had this in toasties and being plain you wind up with a good tuna taste without losing or battling a lot of flavours, although one child had it in her salad and reckons it's really nice. I have been asked to try this in tuna pasta bake, however haven't got that far.

My 9 year old finds these tins really good for taking in her lunch, they are the perfect size and given the easy to read and identifiable labels, it is easy for her to find the one she wants without requiring my help. She also really likes the fact that it is dolphin friendly (i'm still not exactly sure what that means).

My mum eats tuna but doesn't like a lot of the flavours because they are too much for her so I am trying to convince her that she NEEDS to try this particular one. It meets all her health requirements, is a great size to roll around her car for lunch on the go and is easy to open.

I enjoy eating tuna and I usually stay away from chunks in spring water as I haven't ever found one that I really enjoyed but I figured that reviewing it would be a great way to try a different brand and see if it was any better. I couldn't quite decide what to do with this until my wife suggested that I should pop it on my mini pizza. Opening it up I couldn't see any oil which was great, there were nice big chunks which I decided to break up a little bit and then popped it on my pizza.

The texture on the pizza was great and it made a nice and simple tuna pizza, something I would happily do again. Eating it on its own though... no... I gave it a try on its own and found the tuna to be really dry, not something I look for in my tuna. Not liking what was left in the can I offered it up to my seven year old and he gobbled it down, took a little prompting but he told me that the taste was 'most delicious' but that it could have been 'wetter'.

Having this on its own, this would be my last pick but if I had it in my cupboard I would happily use it on pizza.

I am not a big fan of most seafoods but I love tuna and plain in spring water is a must have when I feel like tuna on toast. Even though they are meant to be in natural spring water I find a lot of brands is more in an oil than anything else so I was keen to see how the pacific crown would stack up.

I was really pleased when I opened the tin for once as promised it was in spring water not a thick oil. I was also impressed that unlike a lot of brands it was actually more tuna than it was water! There was enough to keep it nice and fresh but not enough to have it swimming. I loved that it was nice and chunky so when I put it on toast it broke up enough to cover it but not enough to turn it much like other brands tend to do when you try and spread it.

Taste wise it was just what I expected in a plain tuna and it tasted really nice with no nasty surprises. I was pleased it wasn't salty like a lot of other brands can be. Being such a nice chunky tuna it would be great for a number of different uses as it would mix in without breaking up completely. I plan to get some more as I think it would make a nice base for a quick and easy fish pie.

Our family enjoy tuna and our usual choice would be plain tuna in spring water. With this in mind, this product was an ideal one for us to review. The tuna was pretty much the same as what I would usually expect out of tuna in spring water. I noted that there was very little water in the can and therefore plenty of room for tuna!

We have been trying to find alternative spread options for the children for lunches. They seem to get caught up with peanut butter and marmite. I find that plain tuna makes the bread a bit soggy and also doesn't stay in the sandwich too well. My preference was to find something that would spread. Both children liked the sound of tuna mixed with cream cheese to make a nice lunch spread. I searched on the internet and found a few options. Mr 5, in particular, likes plain flavours, se we decided to stay away from the options with curry powder in them. We went for one with cream cheese, tuna (drained) lemon juice, spring onions and a little salt and pepper. We figured we could always dress it up with mayo and curry powder once the kids have got used to the more simple version. We put both items in the food processor (in the small bowl) and blended the ingredients together. In the eyes of the kids, I made the mistake of putting the spring onions in and they thought it would have been ok with just the tuna and cream cheese. My husband and I felt it was a nice texture but it needed a bit more flavour to it - perhaps the curry powder could have been a good addition. I think it could also have had made a good dip to go with chips or fresh veggies.

Both of our children enjoy it when they get to eat a small can of tuna all to themselves for dinner. This can is a perfect size for a single serving. My husband often takes a little can of tuna to work with him for his lunch. The can is easy to open with a pull tab and it eliminates the need for a can opener. This tuna would definitely be an option for our family when we buy small cans of tuna. The price looks competitive, if not cheaper than what I would usually pay for small cans of tuna.

I have always loved tuna. It's about the only fish I will willingly eat in almost any state - smoked, flavoured or natural. I've even beaten my phobia and tried it 'raw sushi' style, "cooked" with lemon juice and served wrapped in rice with a touch of wasabi. No other fish can make me repeat that experience. So I was keen to test this tuna, knowing that if it wasn't top-notch, I would be able to tell.

Opening the can, I was pleased with the smell. Some "spring waters" seem to be awfully salty, while others have a strange, almost musty smell to them. This didn't - it was a clean, crisp smell that didn't put me off at all. It didn't even smell all that 'fishy' to be honest, which was a little surprising actually. Still, it looked good as well, so I figured the final test was to taste it.

I tried a small piece straight out of the can, and it was really quite nice - a real, fresh tuna smell without the amines, mercury and sulphites that can give that unpleasant metallic taste to some canned fish. I then wrapped some up in a lettuce leaf with a some grated carrot, grated cheese, a drizzle of aioli and a few 'sticks' of tomato and it was stunning, if I do say so myself. I can see this being something I make as finger-food for my next BBQ when the weather warms up again later in the year.

To use up the last half the can, I used this to make some basic sushi, and while not quite as appealing for me as the summer roll, it was a perfect mix for the dish - chunky rather than mushy, and the chunks broke down without falling apart totally, so it still looked like fish in the final sushi pieces.

Overall, while this is not the cheapest canned tuna out there, it's certainly a very high quality compared to it's peers in the price point. If budget and quality are the two factors you need to balance, this is a very good option to explore, pitching way above it's peers in the 'budget' range.

This is my first experience with Tuna, having never brought before so I was kinda at a loss of what to do with them. I decided to make Tuna Fritters. Very simple to do Tuna, egg, flour, onions and mix together. Put in fridge for a little bit then pull out and make into fritter shapes and fry with onion. So quick and basic.

I have to say this was fantastic the onion and tuna go so well together. It was a hit with the whole family and everyone said they would happily eat again. It was fantastic we were all very impressed. I would probably double the mixture next time as did not go that far with four of us (did also do a batch up with the Tom Yum as well - read review on that one). The price is very reasonable and I will definitely have this in our pantry from now on.

Already thinking of the future would do up with a nice sauce because as yummy as they were they could become a bit bland. This would also be ideal to cool down and have for school lunches as would taste perfect hot or cold. Really loved the flavour and taste.
