A gripping thriller starring Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell, PULSE imagines technologies being able to connect individuals to the spirits of another world. When you turn on your cell phone or log on to your e-mail, they'll get in, you'll be infected, and they'll be able to take from you what they don't have anymore - life.

Not the scariest thing I have seen on the 'box' recently... that honour falls to the televised parlimentary debates... but this sure comes close to 'freaky'...

As someone who feels as though a limb has been removed if I go out and have to leave my pda or cellphone behind, the idea of 'something' from 'elsewhere' hacking in and piggybacking on the signal, attacking me through my equipment... well, it gives me the screaming heebies quite frankly. It's bad enough that the gear is now smart enough to talk to other 'smart' devices, sharing data without human intervention, and possibly running viral code or handing out personal information to passing 'scanners'.

The special effects aren't anything majorly new, but are quite etherial, and set the mood well enough to get the idea across, though the soul-sucking had me giggling,as it is VERY similar to the feeding 'dementers' from Harry Potter : 3 : The Prisoner of Azkaban Grin Icon

Overall... not as good as it could have been, but still 'out there' enough to send the chills down my spine when I think of some aspects of it. The acting was a little corny in places, but then it's not exactly cutting-edge cinematography at it's finest anyways. If you liked any of the 'Final Destination' or 'Jeepers Creepers' movies, you'll probably find this one appealing too.
