Product reviews...
Of all the Maketu pies I tried this was actually my favourite, with the vegetable pie and mussel pie vying for second. I'm really not normally a fan of plain mince pies, they bore me and like as not you will find me adding cheese, chilli sauce, relish - anything to liven the thing up. This pie was a little different... I'm not sure why. It was deliciously moist, with plenty of gravy (we like that) without skimping on the meat, it wasn't stuffed full of veges (that would make it savoury to me - I like my veges on the side) and it was really nicely seasoned. All good things, but no single one of those did it... it was the balance, plus nice pastry, and good sizing! Even if you don't like plain mince pies normally, I would recommend giving this one a try.
Nice and short with this one. I find Mince pies boring and bland.
This pie wasn't bland, but it was a bit boring to my jaded tastebuds. Only when I slathered some Watties Sauce on it was it appealing to my palate.
Don't get me wrong, a great pie if you like Mince Pies, but I prefer something with my spice, a bit of grunt to it. Next time I'm gonna pry it open, add some grated Tasty Cheddar cheese and see what that does for it.
Overall, if Plain Mince Pies are your thing, you'll love it. Otherwise, how about exploring the rest of the great range of Maketu Pies? See this sub-category for more reviews of Maketu Pies.

Don't be chicken! Use this stock because it's real good and Simon means real good. He's made it by roasting chicken, cooking vegetables and reducing the liquid until it has a beautiful flavour.
He's called it Executive Chef strength stock because this little pouch is packed with flavour and makes two litres of restaurant quality stock. So get cooking.
100ml resealable pouch - refrigerate after opening for up to 3 weeks. This stock concentrate makes up to 8 cups or 2 litres of stock.
