I went to the Mamma Mia show on Friday night and on the Sunday my daughters where asking lots of questions so pulled the DVD out for them to watch. Besides seeing the show I had only ever watched the DVD once so thought it would be a great catcher upper.

Firstly it has a show like quality to it and the acting is a little over the top. Has some great actors in it and although they are not the best singers in the world they hold there own. My three year old loved the songs and was shaking her toshie away to them and was just transfixed. Where as my six year old enjoyed it but wasn't fussed one way or another.

The music/songs are all from ABBA and most are so well known you can sing away to them. My favourite would have to be Winner Takes It All and still takes my breath away as Meryl runs away from Pierce. It is rather a silly story but it works and its not at all complicated. Sophie is due to be married and wants her father to come to the wedding only problem is she does not know who he is. Finds Donnas old diary and pin points it down to three possibilities.

A very light hearted easy breasy movie to watch. Great if it is pouring with rain as you can just soak up the Greek Islands and enjoy the sun. A most watch for ABBA fans or anyone who just likes a good musical. The location is spectacular even if the hotel is falling apart and she needs money money money!

I'm sure I was born in the wrong decade as I love ABBA and the music of that era. There is just something about it that holds more appeal than some of today's music. When I saw Mamma Mia was being released I was really excited a whole movie based on the music of ABBA!

I'm happy to saw I wasn't disappointed I loved it from start to finish and found I couldn't help but sing along in parts. The storyline worked perfectly with the song woven through it was very cleverly written and directed. Since seeing it the first time I have watched it over and over again, it's one of those movies I throw on whenever I want a bit of background noise while I'm busy doing other things.

The casting is spot on, I wasn't sure how it would be seeing so many actors known for other roles in a musical but they all did so well and owned their characters, even if some of the singing wasn't the best. Meryl Streep though was the star of the show for sure I don't think the movie would of done as well without her in the lead.

Mamma Mia is a must see film for anyone who loves the music of ABBA, you will not be disappointed at all.

Growing up listening to Abba quite a lot with my dad and now and again with my mum this was a must see movie when it came out (knowing that it would take a bit to be able to go and see it on the stage).

I didn't get to see this till it came out on DVD and I was OK with that since at the time it would have been next to impossible to get my husband to sit through it, at home though, where he had other stuff he could do, was fine. My main draw to this movie was the actors in it and the fact that it was all Abba songs, ahhh a blast to the past for me indeed.

The DVD comes with either subtitles, if you want to know almost every word that they are saying (subtitles still seem to get a word or two wrong) or with karaoke turned on so you just have the words to the songs. I had so much fun with this song, and the good thing about it is that it's an ok enough one to play with the kids around, my son who was almost three at the time loved to watch it and dance along, and now at six still loves it.

A fun movie, well worth a watch.
