The Moose and The Goose is a wonderful read for pre-schoolers and adults alike! Exactly as described on the back of the book - something that I really appreciate. Jenny Cooper and Juliette Maclver have so many great titles between them that there was definitely high expectations before even opening the book but I am happy to report The Moose and The Goose does not disappoint at all. Exactly what I expected and written the way that I knew the children would adore.

The first time I read this book I gave it the ultimate test of mat time at pre school with a group of 40 odd 2-5year olds. Recommended on Scholastic's website as being appropriate for 3-7year olds I knew this would be a struggle for some of our younger 2year olds. However I have to say that in general they coped really well with this book. Simple yet funny it captured all of the children's imagination's without a doubt. The children who didn't cope so well with reading/listening to this book - was mainly due to it being a longer type book to read. Also, every child is different at different ages and stages anyway so it very much comes down to individual children's enjoyment of books. If you have a two year old - you will know whether this book will be suitable for them Smile Icon

The illustrations in this book are gorgeous and the pictures alone have you turning the pages over and over again to see what else you can notice. Definitely a book we have enjoyed reading over and over again, both at large group times (such as mat times) and one on one with a child or couple of children. The rhyming is great and at times tricky - try saying some sentences to fast and you might get tongue tied haha!

All in all a wonderful, happy and carefree book that I fully recommend to others - I am certainly glad to have it in my daughters library and I will be looking out for it in stores to give to nieces and nephew's as birthday presents Smile Icon

Well just the cover page on this book has you knowing this is going to be a great book. We are becoming big Jenny Cooper fans in our house and this book does not disappoint. My Miss three is an avid book reader (and listener...) and I thought that this would amuse her. I was very correct on that.

This is a rhyming book that is very simple but very very funny. The illustrations are very well matched to the words on the page and my three girls and I just giggle away reading this especially when my tongue gets all twisted and I can't get the words out correctly!

Every page has rhyming words on it such as ... "You silly old moose. Vamoose! Vamoose!" And feathers flew loose. This book has been good for us all to practice our pronunciation but its also good to have a book that is just very funny and really makes us laugh. Its hard to be grumpy when you read a funny book like this especially when you get little giggling gerties laughing with you. So at the very least I would have to recommend this book as a good cheer you up tonic that really does just get your little ones laughing all over the place. Its nice as well I think for the kids to see that even us adults can get our words jumbled sometimes and my girls have really enjoyed laughing at me when I have got myself all twisted up reading this.

A brilliant book and one well worth adding to your library.
