Trolls have been a huge hit in my household since the first movie was released especially with my youngest girl who will take any excuse for a good sing along dance party so I knew this sequel would go down well. Much like the first movie there are lots of great catchy sing along songs that had my girl moving and wiggling as she watched in fact I think this movie had even more songs than the first. My music loving daughter was glued to the screen with all the colours, the high energy and the addictively fun music keeping her attention this is definitely a feel good film that young children will really enjoy.

While the majority of the movie is focused on the music it has some really important and powerful messages that I thought were great for children growing up in our world today, Poppy and Branch discover there are other troll worlds and these troll worlds all have a different genre of music. Whether it be rock, pop, country, or techno I think the movie does a really good job of showing that although like the trolls can be different by the genre of music they present they can also be a lot alike and these differences aren't exactly a bad thing. As an adult it was easy to see how this can be applied to the real world as in different countries having different languages and different cultures and how although these differences exist we can still be united by the things that make us the same.

Though this may not be as clear for the children to pick up on it is still a discussion we can have with the children ourselves and even the message shown of having different music genres is an important message for the children to see how differences are a great thing and allow us all to express ourselves in our own way. For my youngest child only being 3 for her it was more about the singing and dancing while my older child could see how Branch and Poppy worked to make sure all the different styles of music remained and the trolls all found a way to unite and celebrate those differences.

The dance party edition of this DVD was really cool and the kids loved the bright dance party style look of the scenes with all the stages and bright lights. I think it is a great feel good movie to watch with the whole family you may even find yourself singing along with some of the well known songs and it is a highly enjoyable viewing experience for the children thats for sure.

Product reviews for listing 6025: Beethoven
Director: Brian Levant

Product image for BeethovenThe Newton family live in their comfortable home, but there seems to something missing. This "hole" is filled by a small puppy, who walks into their home and their lives. Beethoven, as he is named, grows into a giant of a dog... a St Bernard. Doctor Varnick, the local vet has a secret and horrible sideline, which requires lots of dogs for experiments. Beethoven is on the bad doctor's list.
