Brickman Awesome product reviews

Ever wondered if an Orca could make it as far up the Waikato as Hamilton? Answer: Yes! The most amazing phenomenon is about to about as a 3m tall orca lands in the city as part of the spectacular Brickman Awesome Exhibition these July school holidays.

After completing a stunningly successful season at Auckland Museum, which saw over 100,000 attendees, this world class exhibition produced by Lego Certified Professional Ryan 'The Brickman' McNaught's will open at Claudelands Event Centre in Hamilton on 3 July running through to 1 August. The centrepiece attraction is the Orca Model which has been built over 14,200 Lego and Duplo Bricks.

The great orca model is just one of 37 awe-inspiring creations constructed over 5,000 hours from just under one million Lego Bricks.

I remember the first Lego kit we got as kids. It was a castle built on to green slabs that you could move with a center connecting piece - my brothers and I spent hours playing with it. Then when we got the two level Police Station and Airport our minds were blown. Cars driving up ramps, people walking around, little computers and a mail box.

Now jump ahead a thousand years and my girls are obsessed with Friends Lego - Cabins, Hair Salon, Cup Cake Shop, Houses, Supermarket - what Lego is creating is amazing. Not to mention there is also the Creator Range, City Range, Architecture, Harry Potter - the list is now huge. Typically after the Lego is created into its purpose it is pulled down and replaced by one of many houses we have now got scattered around the Rumpus Room - with the girls proclaiming how amazing they are.

To be honest I never knew what you could do with Lego until we started watching Lego Masters on TV and my mind was especially blown after each week some amazing items were created, putting our little houses to shame. Actual Harley Davidson that you can physically sit on or Ships detailing cabins with all the little Lego Lego People walking around. So when the opportunity arouse where we could physically walk around the exhibits and see them in all of their splendor my family jumped at the occasion.

The exhibit is at Claudelands Event Centre and you need to book in via Ticketek website and times are allocated. We arrived for the 2pm session and was informed that it would be closing 3pm so we felt kind of rushed. It is spread between four areas all showcasing some amazing pieces of arts. Spiders, Crocodile, my favourite the Koala, Posters, a Rocket, Eiffel Tower were one of the many awesome Lego creations you get to witness. You are literally face to face with these buildings and images of crashing into them and breaking into a million pieces was always floating in the back of your mind as my husband and girls were leaning over the table - trying to see every angle.

There is also an interactive board where you can put your building to the test and add a block or two to a giant snake they are trying to build. You find yourself looking thru containers of single coloured blocks looking for the perfect piece to make yours stand out the most. There was also a competition happening where you have to find and count up how many Mr and Mrs Awesome could be found.

A very impressive event and one we are glad we got to witness first hand. The price is a little steep for it but as a family of Lego Fans we are all glad we got to see it.
